A few weeks ago we gave some insight on
. Now we’re going to give you the low down on baby
essentials! Because let’s be honest, the struggle gets REAL to dress that bump during the hot months!
The biggest insider secret that we could ever divulge to you is that for the majority of your pregnancy you don’t need to waste money trying to dress your bump with maternity clothes!!!
So what and where are these multitasking marvels you might ask. Please, let us show you!
T-shirt dress/tunic …
For the first few months of your pregnancy, you could actually wear these little numbers as dresses, but as the belly grows they begin to serve the purpose of the ever popular tunic shirt that you can rock with some lightweight cropped leggings (that don’t need to be maternity as long as they are low rise)! If you’re worried about extra coverage, then just go a size up from what you would normally wear. An extra inch of fabric will do you a lot of good in the long run. And you’ll still have cute comfy things to wear post-baby. Trust me. You will be dying to wear something “normal” after that child is in the world. You can find them at:
Stretchy/super low rise pants …
Any kind of low rise legging, jegging, or stretchy jean will be your best bet on getting the most milage for non-maternity pants. Also, both Target and Old Navy have some super comfy linen pants that have a yoga pant waistband. I mean really. If you don’t go buy those for summer, you are crazy. Really any kind of pant with an elastic band can be worn through your whole pregnancy if you master the little fold down trick as pictured above! Two types of pants that are on trend for 2014 are also the casual chic drapey jogger pant and palazzo pants, both of which can be dressed up or down with ease. Here are the linen pants that you can find at:
Is Leesha not the cutest?!
Maxi dresses …
Don’t worry about your maxi dress having a bit of rise in the front as your bump grows, because lucky for you, hi-lo hems are all the rage! So you’ll still be rocking the maxi dress style, and maybe even be inspired to check out some hi-lo hemmed dresses. The most important thing about a maxi is that you find one with enough stretch/give to keep growing with you. If it starts getting too tight, you’ll be having hot flashes in a minute! So make sure you’ve got some flow and stretch enough to keep you comfy. And really, where can you NOT find a maxi dress?
The best thing about all of these items is that you can layer, dress up, dress down, accessorize, simplify, and restyle for year round wear. AND they’re great for ALL seasons of life as well!
We are going to have a SEQUEL to our L|W: dress the bump post. We’ll be hearing from our friend Maddie on a few other must-have essentials to pregnancy wear that are non-maternity! So keep your eyes peeled. We’re excited to share more!!!
And as always,
So Much Love-
