Oh technology, how we love thee! Your innovations keep moving us forward, and sometimes in ways we least expect. But let's be real. What we're going to discuss today is an innovation in technology that we as women should be doing flips over, and actually can without any hesitation if you are #swoleandflexy and experiencing some tinkles or PMS issues. So, let's get to it. Like most of you know, I'm a CrossFitter, and one of the few things that I have become fairly proficient at are double unders. I would even go so far as to say that I look forward to them in WODs (aka: workout of the day) if it weren't for one thing: PEEING MYSELF. Heaven help. It doesn't matter if you've had kids or not, most mature women deal with this issue. And tell me who is about to stroll up into the gym with some Depends on, because let's be real those things ain't looking cute in compression shorts. Enter: the new wildly absorbent, moisture wicking, odor absorbing, leak resistant, anti microbial, dish washing, laundry folding UNDERWEAR! Oh oops. Got a little carried away there. Forget those last two. I was only dreaming. ;) So, let me introduce you to what I've discovered!
The first brand I want to chat with you about (which you have probably seen by now being advertised on Facebook) are "period-proof underwear that protects you from leaks and keeps you feeling dry." SAY WHAAA?! The website even states, along with numerous reaffirming testimonies, that these undies can be worn all day keeping you clean and dry. Seems pretty stinking amazing if you ask me (ok ok, and just ever so slightly weird). But everyone insists that it's not weird at all. But I'm over here thinking that if they're good enough for an entire day, surely they're good enough for at least a 1 hour WOD at best to keep the PMS under warps and at least to keep me dry for double unders! After all, these bad boys (bad girls?) are built to be absorbent enough to deal with the heaviest to lightest PMS flow. What's more, all of the phrasing on the website is pretty punny which won me over in a heartbeat. Head on over to read more about how it all works, but only after you're finished here!!! ;) With $10 off and free shipping on your first order for singing up to be a new customer, these little undies cost me an even $24 making them one of the cheapest options out of the three brands. Thinx has a sister brand that is called "Icon" that is marketed specifically for tinkling issues. The best part about that line is that you can "Take 'em on a dry run. If you aren't feeling it within 30 days, we'll refund you, no questions asked. Easy pee-sy!" And they'll cost you $30-34.. My Thinx are currently in the mail. Would you guys like a legit real life review?! Let me know in the comments. HOWEVER let's not skip over my most favorite thing about Thinx. When you purchase a pair of undies, you are also helping other girls in underdeveloped countries to be equipped with these garments as well so that they don't have to miss entire weeks of school or even drop out because of something as natural as their menstrual cycle. Take a minute to watch the video about the heart behind the brand.
Next we have the undie brand Knixwear which run $22-23. The thing that caught my attention with this brand is that they have a monthly subscription for as low as $18!!! The catch however is that to score an $18 pair of undies a month, you have to pay upfront which means dropping $108 on the front end for a six month/six pair subscription. If you're able to make that investment, I believe it will be worth your while. You also have the option to subscribe for three months for $20/pair or just wing it for month-to-month for $22. Unlike Thinx who has a sisterbrand Icon solely for little tinkles, the Knix gusset is crafted to ensure two different levels of moisture-wicking ability. With one boasting FreshFixTechnology, they're patented to be "super absorbent, leak-resistant and odor eradicating. Perfect for light bladder leaks, a back up during that time of the month, or for super sweaty workout sessions." You can read more about all that scientific stuff and shop their Everyday, Athletic, and Leak Proof lines Right HERE.
Last, and kinda sorta the least, is the brand Dear Kates. Their technology, which is called Underlux, is stated to do the exact same thing that the previous two (ok, three) brands do as well. They do make the point that you are wearing legit fabric, which means no plastics or latex are used in the construction of the materials. Win! However, even with my new subscriber 20% discount and their Always-Free-Shipping-within-the-US policy, I was still looking at $28.80 for one pair. And honestly, I am not a huge fan of their garment designs. And although they seem to have many collections and sizing options, items seem to very picked over and out of stock. Both the Thinx and Knix lines appeal to my aesthetic with their simplistic design, color stories, and lace options. What I AM looking forward to seeing from this brand is their line of athletic bottoms that will be launched sometime this summer. That's right ladies, you can be doubly brave with going commando in your yoga pants! (I am literally dying on the inside thinking of any males who decided to read this. HA!)
