Real talk here about this season's capsule: I've included the most pieces yet, AND there are still things hanging in my closet. They have yet to make their way out, because they've still got time to prove if they're up to snuff. Also, you're going to see redundancy in this capsule. You're going to see what some of you may consider excess. But here's the thing: we're all changing and all in need of grace. So can we freely extend that to each other? To me for this? Good. Thank you!!! Now let's move forward. What I've got here with me now:
10 outer layering pieces (two of which are "leather" jackets)
7 bottoms (all some type of jean)
That's 33 pieces. I know you can do the math.
And I haven't even added in shoes or hats yet, and y'all know I don't count jewelry! So there's quite a bit. And this is why. My life just underwent a major change. My "place" has completely changed. My relationships and positions and responsibilities have changed. So I'm giving myself some grace and wiggle room to see what my wardrobe is indeed going to require as the dust settles. AND THAT IS OK! I think I'll find that at the end of the day, most of "me" really has not been overhauled THAT much. You're still going to see the obvious in there, my widely neutral palette with cozy knits and distressing and of course stripes, florals, and blush. So let's dive in and see what's old and what's new and where we're going with all of this!
The newest addition to the wardrobe has been ruffles (namely by way of bells on sleeves). Although these lend themselves to a more definite ruffle than a full length hippie bell, they add a fresh touch of femininity that I believe my wardrobe had somewhat strayed from in seasons passed (or is it really past?). My favorite is the absolutely gorgeous blushed knit pullover from Janie Rose Boutique. The tiered sleeves on that beauty make a KILLER statement. The two other new pieces are the taupe "leather" moto jacket from H&M and the heathered gray long line cardi from Old Navy. I've never owned a jacket in that color or a cardigan that long, so I am excited to spruce up my outfits with those new twists.
There are a handful of other pieces that you might've not seen before (like the white floral blouse also from Janie Rose, or the merlot floral swing dress from Trendie Chix). And the reason why I'm not necessarily featuring those as "new" per-say is because they serve as replacements for similar pieces (same cut/function/similar print) from previous seasons that have been tattered, worn out, and retired. One of my favorite replacement pieces, however, are my black moto pants from H&M which reinstated my old black jeggings from Target. (Quick confession, there is just something about the word jegging that I don't like. Anybody feel me?)
Raise your hand if you are ready for the absence of heat! I purposely left out shorts because I am so ready for those cooler fall temps to take up residence. I mean, we just moved back to the Midwest for crying out loud! Where they aaaaat y'all?!!
As always, keep your eyes peeled for the weekly Wednesday instagram posts to see how I pair all these pieces together over the coming weeks. Can we try dropping some comments below? What do y'all look forward to getting gussied up in this fall? What are your fall staples? I'm literally itching right now to know. ;)
