We told you in our October Favorites post that we love leggings for fall. Specifically, black (or dark colored) leggings. For me (Leesha), leggings have become an everyday must have item of clothing...along with a comfy hoodie and my heated blanket! ;) Since I am not trying to impress anyone, besides my baby boy, all day long - it works!
We want to show you, though, 5 ways that you can wear black leggings and actually look put together, modest, aaand still a touch comfy!
Let me clarify something real quick before we jump right in. Leggings are NOT tights. Tights are NOT leggings. If you can find leggings that are thick, opaque, and your size...feel free to continue. If not, don't bother leaving the house without keeping those curves covered! We will list below some great places to find affordable leggings!
Ok. Let's get started!
The first way we like to wear leggings is as workout attire. Obviously the stretchy fabric is great for getting flexible and whatnot. Shorts are a no-go for outdoor activities in the Fall, and if you're doing a lot of running you may not like the bagginess weighing you down. Leggings are a great option - just make sure you find opaque ones!! No one wants to see your heinie or which undies you've picked out for the day! Throw on a zip-up, and you're ready to go grab those few grocery items you need after you leave the gym!
When are leggings NOT comfortable? I wore them up until the DAY I had my baby...and the next time I was aloud to wear something besides a hospital gown! Lounging around the house, but want to look somewhat put together? Throw on a fun graphic tee (I try to buy bigger sizes so that they are longer to cover the curves) and your favorite long cardigan! If you need to run an errand, grab a scarf and some ankle booties, and you look like you put some thought into your appearance!
Ok, so this is basically the same look as above, but with a twist. Instead of a cardigan, take a flannel or chambray shirt instead! Keep the graphic tee, but add a fun statement necklace instead of your scarf. Add your comfiest booties, and you're done! Still comfy, but you put a tad more thought into what you were going to wear. This look would be great for a lunch date with your gals, or for grabbing a late coffee with your honey.
Going to dinner with your bestie? Loose the tee, and find a long flowy shirt (preferably not cotton). Riding boots? Check. Sweater, necklace, bracelets? Check. Still comfy, but you definitely thought through your appearance!
You can continue wearing dresses and skirts when it gets a little chilly! You can use tights, but if you want a warmer option, wear leggings! Add a cute wedge bootie and a necklace with a pop of color and you could totes wear this to church on Sunday!
Here are a few places we have purchased leggings from and LOVE them:
