Let's dive in to what you need to know about building the most amazing wardrobe (for you!) for the fall and heading in to the upcoming winter months. They are coming, aren't they? Summer may hang around for a while for us down here in the south, so we need to make sure we keep some of those year round staple items as the foundation pieces of our wardrobes! Tees and tanks will be your friends for layering so that you can comfortably (and modestly) shed layers on the days that cool mornings turn in to warm afternoons.
Is it any surprise that you are seeing stripes and florals and OLIVE GREEEEEEN? The trend for this fall is to maintain those warm taupes and neutrals as your base then add dimension with saturated jewel tones like Merlot, Deep Lagoon, Sunflower, Mountain View, and Red Clay from Pantone. Obviously I'm gravitating towards the Mountain View green side of things because I LOVE olive and army greens. In my opinion, their earthy subtle tones lend those types of greens to become a new almost neutral with your wardrobe. And it pairs SO beautifully with the taupes and blushes that I love to keep that soft feminine side juxtaposed with the earthy and edgy textures of greens, blacks, and greys.
Take a peek through the slideshow to see up close and personal the tops, bottoms, layering pieces, jewelry,
and shoes that I'll be building with this fall.
I'm still hanging on to softer, lighter hues in my tops but really focusing on that warm cognac color that lives somewhere between Sunflower and Red Clay to bring depth and interest to my #ootds. I took a risk and purchased a hi-lo tee in that color and am pleasantly surprised at how flattering both the color and the cut have turned out to be. And speaking of being pleasantly surprised, I also fell in love with an oatmeal colored tshirt maxi dress. IT HAS POCKETS! Need I say more? You can see it lying on the left side of the bed in the first few shots.
Also, it's easy to add those warm cognac/oatmeal colors in with your little shoesies because SO MANY leather sandals and boots and booties boast those hues. And about those shoes, three of the four pair you see came from Payless! Yep. And my jeweled sandals are my oldies but goodies from Target forever ago. And they are BARELY hanging on. This just may be their last season around.
What my wardrobe may seem to lack in pattern is most certainly made up for with cuts, textures and layers! Cold shoulders, hi-lo hems, distressed denim, moto seams, crepe folds, chambray, terry knit, and JEWELS! A solid tee and pant can be easily broken up with added interest from a statement necklace. And let me tell ya, you absolutely CANNOT go wrong with purchasing either (or BOTH) of the statement necklaces from our jewelry capsule collection in the ONLINE SHOP.
However, what you will NOT see pictured yet is a pair of FLARES! When I converted to the skinny jean movement years ago, I swore I would never go back, but my inner hippie is dying to find some high-waisted wide-hem bells. What do you guys think about bringing back the flare/bell bottom jean?
What will be in YOUR capsule this fall? Would you like for me to help you get started on your very first one? If yes, then hurry up and get your consultation booked TODAY! Let me know what you think, and be on the look out for outfit inspirations on the luxe|wise Instagram account (@luxewise) if all of these pieces (and good ole flares) are your jam.
